Florida Title Talk: A Lunch-n-Learn for Florida Title Agents

Florida title agents: Learn about two hot topics currently impacting your business. NATIC’s “Title Talk” Lunch-N-Learn will feature two presentations by our NATIC Florida underwriting counsel.

Philip Holtsberg, Vice President and Senior Underwriting Counsel for Florida, will share why Florida homestead law has come to be known as a “legal chameleon,” and, using recent court decisions, will provide an in-depth look at one distinct area of homestead law from a title insurance perspective: Exemption from creditor claims.

Valerie Jahn-Grandin, NATIC’s Executive Vice President and Chief Underwriting Counsel, will dive into what is perhaps our industry’s biggest concern at the moment: cybersecurity, or more specifically, business email compromise. Valerie will discuss some of the most common email fraud schemes and what Florida state law has to say about your duty to safeguard consumers’ nonpublic personal information. She will also dispel “urban myths” about email fraud and share tips for how to prevent your company from falling victim to these schemes.
